Pals Paper Arts 242

It was a slippery ride to work yesterday morning, they seem to have issues plowing the streets around here! But the sun did come out and started to melt some of the snow, the main roads were clear on my way home. For lunch today Robin and I went for Sushi. I sat and caught up with Danielle for a bit today at work, I miss seeing her all the time. After work I went and got my haircut and then headed over to Scrap-A-Latte to see Renee and help pick out some paper and card stock for this month’s card class. I got back to my parent’s just in time to see little Daniel for a bit. He’s so funny, he yells a lot  and Winston doesn’t like loud noises. When you say to Daniel be nice to Winston he leans over and puts his head on him, it’s so cute! I’ll have to try and get a picture the next time I see him. I have an extra card to share with you at the bottom of the post today, it’s the card that I made for my friend Robin for her birthday so be sure and scroll past the supplies list to see it!

I also had to share this video that I saw yesterday, wouldn’t it be nice if every just accepted people for who they are and didn’t concern themselves with anything else?! There is so much wrong in the world and it always has something to do with someone not liking what someone else is doing. Let’s just love each other, there are far more important things to concern ourselves with.

The main card that I have for you today is for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge…

PPA 242

I immediately thought St. Patrick’s Day but decided to go in a completely different direction! My card base is Whisper White Card Stock and the front of it is covered in a piece of Kraft Card Stock. My background is a piece of the Gold Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. Before I adhered that to the card I heat embossed the sentiment from the Lovely Amazing You Photopolymer Stamp Set in Black Stampin’ Emboss Powder. My tag is created using the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch and the Project Life Corner Rounder from a piece of Basic Black. I threaded a piece of Hemptique Natural Hemp Twine thought the top. The leaves are cut out with the Flower Frenzy Bigz Die from a piece of Garden Green. My flower is from the Petal Potpourri Stamp Set and is heat embossed in Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder on Vellum. I used the Flower Medallion Punch and the 1/2″ Circle Punch to punch out the pieces and then adhered them to each other and to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Not too complicated and I love the layout, I’ve used it a few times! I hope that you enjoyed my card for this week’s Pals Paper Arts color challenge! Don’t forget to school past the supplies list to see the extra card for today! Thank you for stopping by and have a super Saturday! 🙂

  1. Very nice cards Justin. Still I’m in awe with your gold heat embossing. I’m really going to have to work on that. Robin’s card is very nice, my girls would love it too. Happy Birthday Robin.
    🙂

    1. Thanks so much Nancy! I guess that I do the embossing so much thatI don’t even think about it any more! Robin loved her card! Thanks again! 🙂

    1. Thank you Gerri! Wouldn’t it be nice if we all just got along?! Glad that you enjoyed the cards! 🙂

  2. I LOVED the video, thanks for passing that along……a very powerful message indeed! The card was pretty awesome too.

    1. YAY! Thank you Nancy! I think that it’s a great way to get a necessary message across! Glad that you liked the card! 🙂

  3. Good Morning Justin:

I just love that vellum with the gold hearts! Both cards are just gorgeous. I think my oldest daughter would really go a bit ga ga over the card you made for Robin. It would suit her to a tee especially if we could substitute dance shoes! LOL You really are amazing with the way you emboss on vellum. I have been trying to work on that particular technique but not having the success you have. Do you heat from the back of the vellum? Do you use the embossing buddy because the vellum seems to have a lot of static in it and no matter how hard I try I keep getting the little flakes of embossing powder somewhere that I don’t want it. The hubs says it’s because there is so much static electricity when winter is here.

Interesting video. I wonder how they did that? It certainly caught the attention of those people who were watching it. Any idea where that screen was set up?

Busy day today with lots of small projects to attend to. That will eat up the day much faster than I like but hey, they have to be done! LOL Hope you have a Super Saturday! Love and hugs, Grace 🙂

    1. Hi there Grace!
I love that Fancy Foil Designer Vellum too! I thought that the card for Robin was perfect! She loves her shoes and bags! I LOVE to heat emboss and I find that it’s easier to do on Vellum! I heat from the front but I let the heat gun get good and hot before I bring it to the paper! I always use the embossing buddy or the EK Success Powder Tool. The Winter is definitely more staticky!
I thought that the video was great! I think that the it was done in California somewhere.
I had a lot of projects to get done too today. The weekends just go way too fast, I wish they seemed as long as the week! I had a fun day and I hope that you did too and got all of your stuff done! XOXO 🙂

  4. Hi Justin! Happy Saturday! Love your video that you shared. It’s so true, isn’t it? Wish that message could get across to the entire world population! Great cards today! I love your embossing on the vellum! So pretty! Love that stamp set too! And Robin’s card is perfect!! Is that an SU journaling card? If so, I’ve missed seeing that! Great projects for today—as usual! 😉

    1. Hello Karen and Happy Saturday to you too!
I’m happy that you liked the video! It really is true, we are all the same on the inside! I wish that everyone would just get along too! Glad that you enjoyed the cards! The journaling card is from Authentique. It was in the March Simon Says Stamp Card Kit. Fun stamps, paper and extras! 🙂

  5. OMG I LOVE!!!!! Robin’s birthday card, where is the sentiment and shoes from, Photo? Great firstcard, when I saw the colors I thought, hummm… St Patty’s something. I’m not really into St Patty’s cards, and green is not my color so I was stumped. Once again you rocked it. Love the tag of course, and you can never go wrong with gold embossing.

It’s 40 here!!!! Heat wave, die snow, ice. And I’m off for a day of scrapbooking with my BFF. Life is good. OK and my son is home from college, missed him

    1. Woo hoo! Thank you Linda! The sentiment is from an Authentique Journaling Card! I wasn’t fond of the colors on the first card and yes, I thought the same thing! I do love a tag and some embossing!
It was in the 30’s here today, I’ll take it! I hope that you had a great day scrapbooking with your friend! Life is good! Yay for your son being home too! 🙂

  6. Hi Justin, awwww, how beautiful are those little sisters on the video!?! I agree that no one has the right to judge another person – just love them 🙂 I love your cards for today, and the absolute perfection of your settings again – it’s like you choose your ornaments and make the cards to match, lol! Gotta go, my cat Homer, is climbing the front door! Hope your weekend is going great!! Cheers Justin, Kelly 😀 xoxo

    1. Hello Kelly!
Yes, the little sisters are adorable! We should all just love everyone! A big love fest! LOL! Glad that you like the cards too! I actually just happen to have some stuff that matches the Stampin’ Up! colors! I do have a lot of props! Give Homer a little stroke for me! Hope you had a nice day! XOXO 🙂

  7. Thank you for sharing the beautiful video. The more we share this message, the better the world becomes. I always like to see what you have made, but I also appreciate the little peak into your busy life. You set a good example for keeping up with what’s most important in life, friends and family.

    1. You’re welcome Barbara! I agree, we all just need to get along! I like to have a balance of sharing me and my cards! I’m glad that you enjoy both! We all need to be grateful for what we have! 🙂

  8. Wow, that is a powerful and uplifting message on the video. My kids always amaze me because they really have no prejudices. Okay, well maybe if a person was mean to them. I really hope that they continue to view the world in this open way. Thanks for sharing it 🙂

Both of your cards are fantastic in different ways. Your first card has tough colors to incorporate together to me. You did an awesome job of creating your card. You are the king of embossing, especially on vellum! Your second card rocks! 😉

    1. Thank you Jill! Yes, it definitely is! Love is love no matter what! I think that your kids are a good reflection of you! You must be doing something right!
Glad that you enjoyed the cards too! I do love some embossing and the second card was just fun to put together! 🙂

  9. Wow, Justin, your cards are AMAZINGLY AWESOME, as usual. You are a master metallic and vellum embosser!!! Your daily posts are a fun, insightful, and creative glimpse into your inspiration, and know you inspire others to be better. TFS, and what a powerful video!!! Unconditional love is truly a gift that we can share with others.

    1. Thanks very much Laurie! I love that gold embossing powder don’t I?!?! It make me so happy that I get to share things with all of you! You always make my days better, know that! The video is awesome! It should be required viewing for everyone! Unconditional love is the best kind! We need more of it! 🙂

  10. Fantastic card, Justin! I love the embossed flower on your tag, awesome idea and it just enhances the Gold Foil Vellum too. Thanks so much for joining us at the Pals Paper Arts this week.

  11. You rocked it …again! Love the use of the vellum paper. The heat embossing if over the top (as usual) Thanks for playing…you are the best!

    1. Thanks so much Susan! Loves me a little heat embossing and vellum! Have a fantastic weekend! 🙂

  12. Wow Justin, that video made me cry! I wish people would adhere to the old adage of, “If you can’t say something nice (or uplifting, or kind) then don’t say anything at all!” I firmly believe that there are more nice people in the world than hateful ones, it’s just that sometimes nice people stay silent while trolls spew out all their hatred, giving us the illusion that they are greater in number. I would like to challenge myself and others to leave kindness wherever we go so that hate is overpowered with love.

    1. I thought that video had a very powerful and well conveyed message Carole. I completely agree with you, everyone should just get to live their lives without unnecessary hatred. I try to be kind to all that I meet. It’s easier to smile at someone than frown! 🙂

  13. Great video! Thanks for sharing, Justin!

You really rocked the PPA Color Challenge with your striking design! And I’m sure Robin enjoyed the B-day card that you made for her. It’s *so* fun! It really made me smile.

    1. Your welcome El! I’m really happy that you enjoyed the video!
Thank you!! I had fun making both of the cards! Glad that you enjoyed them! 🙂
