Another nice Saturday spent in Manhattan! I went in early and sat in Starbucks leisurely driving my coffee and taking care of some blog stuff. I met up with Barbara at The Ink Pad and hung out with her for a good part of the day. Effie from The Ton came by and dropped off some more of her lovely stamps to replenish all of the ones that have sold. I also got to meet Joan Bess, author of Gelli Plate Printing and she was just lovely! When the store closed I gave Barbara a ride uptown to her apartment and then headed home myself. I love my fun weekends in the city! Here is Joan holding her book and an Ink Pad bag!
Today I have something a little different for you! I always give a lot of gift cards for different occasions so when I found out that the Lawn Fawn Pillow Box held one perfectly I had to make one! I used the die to cut out some Neenah Solar White 80lb Card Stock. Before I assembled it I stamped it with Simon Says Stamp Stone Ink using the Hero Arts Tiny Star Background Stamp. A strip of tape down the flap of the pillow box and it’s assembled! The front is decorated with stamps from the Simon Says Stamp Oh Happy Day Photopolymer Stamp Set. They are stamped in Simon Says Stamp Stone, Lake Shores and Catkin ink and cut out with the coordinating Simon Says Stamp Happy Day Dies. I adhered the feathers and branches to the card with SNAIL and the greeting with Foam Tape. A piece of Lawn Fawn Silver Sparkle Lawn Trimmings Cord along with a few Pretty Pink Posh Aquamarine and Charcoal Sequins give it a little more pizzaz. For a little extra bling I added a Basic Jewel Rhinestone to the center of each of the Sequins! I loved making the pillow box and will definitely be making some more to have on hand! I hope that you enjoyed today’s project and I thank you very much for coming by! Have an excellent Sunday! 🙂

Hi Justin,
I never thought of using a pillow box for a gift card holder. Great idea. Love the stamping on this. Of course, I always love feathers.
Hello Gerri!
I love that the Lawn Fawn one is big enough for a gift card! Thank you! Yes, I am still loving feathers! 🙂
I love pillow boxes! I have the Pillow Box Punch Board. So glad you are enjoying NYC so much. FYI from yesterday’s Oceana Card . . . I got the Seahorse Alex & Ani bracelet for my belated birthday, yesterday. So love it.
🙂
I haven’t made a pillow box in a while, forgot how much fun they are! I always have fun in Manhattan, one of my favorite places! Love the Alex & Ani Seahorse, good for you! 🙂
Justin, that is a very pretty box and the recipient will love it with the gift card inside. I love the soft colors you used.
Thanks so much HJ! I too love those colors! 🙂
This is a beautiful gift, the recipient will love it. I really like the softness of the colours and the feathers, lovely.
Thanks very much Lynne! You know I love some feathers! LOL! 🙂
Hi Justin, that pillow box is too pretty – and a perfectly coordinated setting as usual, lol! I am drooling over the pic of the wall of stamps! I could spend hours looking through those… Do you ever buy stamps that you just “have to” buy, and then never use them? Or is that just me? 😉 Enjoy the rest of your weekend Justin xo
Hello Kelly!
Thank you!! Yes, the wall of stamps actually goes around the entire store! You would definitely be there for a while! Me, buy stamps that I just “have to have”, umm… all the time! LOL! I hope that you are having a good week! XOXO 🙂
I want to get lost in all thse stamps, Add more to my collection of must have, will make later. Love pillow boxes, love how this is decorated, sift colors and of course feathers. I had a relaxing weekend, mojo never came by so I crossed stitched. Relaxing and the time flew by
He he! It’s a very nice way to spend some time Linda, looking at all of the amazing stamps! Glad that you like the pillow box! It’s nice to have a relaxing weekend sometime, even without the Mojo! At least you still did something crafty! 🙂
Always so fun to hang with you…Thanks for the ride!! 🙂 xo
Yes Barbara! Loved spending the day with you! Your welcome for the ride, anytime! XOXO 🙂
