Mojo Monday 469

I hope that your weekend was as nice as mine! Yesterday morning Heather and I went to the Deli and had flagels for breakfast before heading over to Valley Stream to pick up her brother. The traffic wasn’t too bad heading into Manhattan but once we got in boy was there a lot! It didn’t take us too long to get to the Javits Center and drop off Russell at Comic-Con. But it took us an hour to get from the Javits Center over to 72nd and Lexington. I got to Jim and Diane’s at 11:00 and Heather had to head back to Valley Stream to stay with her grandmother because they had to take her Dad to the Hospital again. I had a nice visit with Jim and Diane and I got to meet their Daughter Wendy and her daughter too! Around 1:00 I was going to head back to Penn Station when Kim called me and asked if I wanted to meet her for lunch, of course I did! We went to 5 Napkins Burgers and boy were they delicious! The fries were excellent too! After lunch we took a walk over to the Nespresso Store on Madison seeing as the rain finally stopped. We tried a few different kinds of espresso and I bought a few sleeves of pods to take home. I left Kim at 60th and Lexington to get the N back to Penn which took forever to come. Once I got to Penn I had to figure out howΒ I was going to go to get home. There was a derailment on the Ronkonkoma line, the one I usually take, so I had to take a train to Massapequa and have my Parents come and get me. I saw Taylor for a little while when I got home, her mouth is feeling much better. I straightened up a little and made a plan of attack to get the rest of the house cleaned up before calling it a night. Back to the Stamp, Ink, Paper Store this morning, I have a bunch of projects to finish!

Monday so it’s time for another Mojo Monday sketch challenge…

mojo469

Today’s card starts off with a base of Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock, the front is covered in a piece of Herb Garden. I used the Concord & 9th with Simon Says Stamp Cozy Christmas Photopolymer Stamp Set for all of my images and greeting. The outline image is stamped in Altenew Dark Chocolate Ink onto a piece of Kraft to create my background. Next up is a piece of 48lb Vellum that I cut out with the Lawn Fawn Dotted Circle Stackables Lawn Cuts. A panel and a strip with the end flagged of Dark Molasses is added next. My greeting from the set is heat embossed in Hero Arts Copper Embossing Powder onto more Herb Garden and adhered to the card with Fun Foam and E-Z Runner. I stamped the pinecones twice using my Mini MISTI and more Dark Chocolate Ink to get the layers perfectly aligned. They are cut out with the Coordinating Die. One is adhered to the top after being trimmed and the other next to the greeting, both with 3D Foam Squares. I added a few Pretty Pink Posh Mossy Green and Rose Gold Sequins to complete the card. I love the way that you can get a nice layered look with just the one ink color and the set is definitely a favorite of mine! I hope that you enjoyed my Design Team card for this week’s Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge! Stop by the BLOG for more inspiration and add your card to the gallery! Thanks, as always, for starting your week off with me! Have an amazing Monday! πŸ™‚

  1. Busy day! What the heck is a flagel??? And how do you make espresso with sleeves of pods??? I think New York is a magical land! I need to get out more…..

    1. LMAO!! A flagel is a flat bagel! The ladies here like a scooped out bagel so they make flat ones now! The Nespresso uses little pods like a Keurig to make the espresso! Yes, New York is pretty magical! LOL! You should come! πŸ™‚

      1. Thank you for the enlightenment. Okay–I get the pods. Guess they sell them in sleeves? If I ever get the chance, Stamp, Ink, Paper will be on my list of places to must-see!

        1. You are very welcome Ann! Yes, they sell them in sleeves of 10 at Nespresso! I hope you do get the chance! Would love to see you in the store! πŸ™‚

  2. Hi Justin, you did all that in the rain?! It rained all day here . . . in fact, we were supposed to go to a parade in Huntington and it was canceled. My nephew is in his HS band and they practised so hard and long. All the vendors, too, lost all that business and what about all their prep work.
I’m liking that dark chocolate crisp color.
By the way . . . Is there a trick with the Multi Medium Matte? I think I have to bring it in to learn how to use it. Is the gray ring suppose to come off with the white cap? The product is so hard to squeeze out. I had to open the cap to let air in, as it stayed like a vacuum. Does this question even make sense to you?

    1. Hello Nancy! Yup, got all of that done in the wind and rain! It was not a great day anywhere around here weather wise but I made the most of it! That’s a shame about your parade, will they reschedule it?
Yes, bring it in the next time that you come to the store, it can get clogged, even though it’s not supposed to! πŸ™‚

  3. Great card today, Justin. I like the green with the copper and I’m sure in person it really sparkles. It was good you got rides around the city, because from my experience cabs are very difficult to get when it rains. No one wants to walk blocks when it rains. Nancy F., I feel sorry for your nephew and everyone involved in the parade that was canceled. It’s so disappointing. Have a great day everyone.

    1. Thank you HJ! I like all of the earthy colors and the EP is definitely my favorite! The city is a nightmare when it rains and it’s all of the cabs fault! If they got rid of the cabs there would be no traffic! I hope that you have a fantastic day! πŸ™‚

  4. Good Morning Justin:

I think today’s sketch was pretty complicated. You pulled it off beautifully though. I love that you made your own background for the base of the card. The chocolate ink on the Kraft shows up beautifully. The copper and green sequins are the perfect colors to use to accent the card. Great job!

So, Comic-Con is a real thing! I thought it was just a joke on the Big Bang Theory. LOL Not sure I would want to attend with all those super heroes running around. LOL Sorry you had a rainy day to deal with and HJ is right…..it IS next to impossible to get a cab in the City when it’s raining. It does sound like you still got to do a lot and have a good day despite the weather. Way to go! Have yourself a Magnificent Monday my friend. Love and Hugs, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
I do love the Mojo sketches even though they can be a little complex! Thank you! I am really having fun with the different stamped backgrounds and my sequins, you know I love them!
Yes, Comic-Con is real! It’s not my thing but I know a lot of people that go! Cabs are my least favorite part of the city! I always have the best time in the city! I hope that you have a fun Monday! The sun is out here but it’s chilly today! Love and hugs! XOXO πŸ™‚

  5. I guess all of the traffic was in NYC since I made great time coming home from NJ yesterday! Love the card–great design and colors!

    1. Well, I’m glad that I could take card of the traffic for you Linda! LOL! I think there was a parade or something in the city, a lot of the cross stress were closed. Glad that you like the card! Thanks! πŸ™‚

  6. Ok I give…what is a flagel. Don’t laugh I’m guessing flat bread but a bagel.

I had a wonderful weekend, too bad they go by so quick.

gorgeous creati0n as usual. gotta love the copper!

    1. LOL! It’s a flat bagel! Getting your bagel scooped out is popular here so they just make flat ones with less dough so they don’t have to scrape them out!
I’m so happy that you had a good weekend! Oh, I got the card from you!! Thank you so much, it’s gorgeous!
Thank you! I really do love the copper EP too! It’s just a nice change from gold! πŸ™‚
