Creation Station Tour – Fall Fest

creation station header

Hello peeps! How is your weekend going so far? Mine is going well! I was in Manhattan most of the day yesterday and despite it being dreary and rainy I had a nice time seeing my friend Isabella! After I took the subway down to the Ink Pad and made a new friend. Michael is another crafty person and I had a nice chat with him. Hopefully I will see him again soon! After I came home I made a card, I had to it was World Card Making Day after all! Did you get to make a card or two yesterday?!

Sometimes Sunday’s mean it’s time for another Creation Station Blog Tour! Today is one of those Sundays! This time around we are doing a Harvest theme focusing on the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Tiny Treat Boxes. If you are following the tour then you have arrived here from the very talented Jennifer Downey’s Blog. I have three projects for you today, two cards and a little box. Lets get to them shall we?!

My first card uses the night sky technique that I did a little while ago. I really loved the way it looked and had to do it again! The base of the card is Night of Navy Card Stock. I used a piece of Watercolor Paper and the Tim Holtz Mini Ink Blending Tool with some Daffodil Delight first to create the moon. I then took some Post-it Tape and used the 1 1/4″ Punch to punch out a piece to mask over the moon.

Night of Navy and Blackberry Bliss are used to create the rest of the sky. The stars are Perfect Pearls mixed with a little water and dotted on with a paintbrush.

To make my ghost I took my Smoky Slate Stampin’ Write Marker and colored around just the edge of the ghost stamp and stamped it on some more Watercolor Paper.

I then used a paintbrush and water to pull the ink into the middle of the ghost.

A quick trip through the Big Shot with the Fun Fall Framelits and some black eyes that are punched out with the 1/8″ Circle Punch and he’s ready to go on the card.

But first I heat embossed one of the greetings from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit in White Stampin’ Emboss Powder. A simple mailable card that uses two fun techniques!

Next up is another neat card. The base of this one is Basic Black Card Stock and the background is a piece of paper from the Motley Monsters Designer Series Paper Pack. The panel is Sahara Sand and I used the Project Life Corner Rounder to round the corners. My partial circle is cut out with the Circles Collection Framelits. The greeting is from the For All Things Stamp Set and is stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black. For a little extra detail I used the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack to pierce all around the edges before adhering the panel to the base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The pumpkin and leaves are all from the Fall Fest Photopolymer Stamp Set and are stamped in Tangerine Tango, Crushed Curry and Pear Pizzaz. I cut them out with the Fun Fall Framelits and adhered the to the card with more Stampin’ Dimensionals. Another simple card but I love the piercing detail and the circle cut out!

My last project is a box that I made using the Tiny Treat Boxes. They are 25 in a pack for $6.95! How can you go wrong?! To make my box I first separated it at the seam by prying the two pieces apart. I did this so I could cut out the pumpkins using the Fun Fall Framelits from the opposite sides of the box.

I then took some Vellum Card Stock and glued it to the inside of the box before using some Sticky Strip to adhere it back together. The embellishment on the top of the box is a piece of 1 1/4″ Burlap Ribbon that I trimmed the sides off of and pulled some threads out. I adhered it to the box top with some more Sticky Strip. Next up is some of the Tangelo Twist Sequin Trim from the September Paper Pumpkin Kit adhered with some Glue Dots. My pumpkin is from the Fall Fest Set and is cut out with the Fun Fall Framelits. I cut out one of the leaves stamped in Pear Pizzaz and used one of the Autumn Wooden Elements along with some of the black twine from the Paper Pumpkin Kit. A Stampin’ Dimensionals holds it in place.  Again, I have forgotten to pick up some of the tea lights! When I do get some I will take pictures of the place card holder and this box! LOL! I love all of the elements and simplicity of the box!

  1. These projects are fabulous! That ghost is cute LOL! And the pumpkin card us pretty with falling leaves background. Plus that box is so sweet! Love the wrapping with burlap ribbon 🙂

  2. I always love these blog hops! Your projects are fantastic 🙂 the last box that and now this one you mention a tea light… It that even possible without catching the box on fire? They do sell battery operated tea lights that might be a safer choice. Have a great Sunday!

    1. Thank you Christine! They are a lot of fun! I was thinking the a battery operated tea light would be the safe thing to use, the candle would definitely finish off the box! LOL! I had an amazing Sunday, hope you did too! 🙂

  3. Justin, Great projects. Love the way you made the night sky. Perfect Pearls & water for stars… can’t wait to try that. The paper on the second card is perfect for the pumpkin and the tea light holder box is so cool. I never would have thought to take it apart to cut that window. Thanks for sharing once again.

    1. Gerri!
Thanks so much! I have so much fun making that background!! I love the Perfect Pearls, nice and easy! I love coming up with different things for you guys! Hope you had a nice day! 🙂

  4. Wow! Justin,
These projects are amazing. I love all 3 of them, couldn’t choose one if I had to. Superb as always, nicely done! You have a great day! 🙂 Hugs, Donna

  5. Hi Justin, All three are wonderful projects! I don’t know where you find the time – not to mention the creativity! The first card is my favorite. I LOVE that sky! Nice work! Happy Sunday!

    1. Hello Melanie!
Thank you so much! LOL! Sometimes I wonder how I fit it all in, I do think about things that I want to make all the time so the ideas are there waiting to come out! The night sky is my favorite too! Happy Sunday to you too! 🙂

  6. Good Morning Justin:

Glad to hear you enjoyed being in Manhattan yesterday despite the lousy weather. We got a surprise when we woke up this morning. We were expecting rainy and cloudy and instead we have bright sunshine and a beautiful sky. Yeah for us.

Love all three projects today. The way you pulled the gray on the ghost looks fantastic with that moon on the first card. You know I love how you do the partial cut out on cards but then to paper pierce it is fantastic and really makes the second card, along with starkness against the background DSP, absolutely gorgeous.

I really think the box you made with the cut out will look fabulous with a tea light inside. You could get a pumpkin and surround it with boxes like the one you made with tea lights in it for a fabulous center piece.

You did a fantastic job with all three of these “creations” Justin. What a terrific way for me to start my Sunday – Sunshine and Justin’s creations. Yeah! Have fun in Manhattan today.

    1. Hello Grace!
Yes, the rain doesn’t usually bother me when I’m in the city. I’m glad that you and great weather! Today was absolutely gorgeous here!!
Thanks so much! I love that night sky technique!! I like that my fingers are all inky when I’m done too! LOL! I think that the partial cut gives a little something unexpected and paper-piercing makes almost anything better!
I will get the batter operated tea lights and take pictures!! I just keep forgetting! Your idea is a fantastic one!! That would really look cool!
I can’t think of a better way to end my busy Sunday than reading your lovely comments my friend! Always the best way for me to end my day! 🙂

  7. Love all of these projects Justin. I am going to try the tea box – it is wonderful and can see a lot of possibilities for upcoming holiday projects. The ghost card is absolutely adorable. These blog hops are so inspirational ! Have a great Sunday.

    1. Thank you Marty! I love those little boxes, and the fact that they are Kraft makes it even better! The ghost was a fun technique too! I really am happy that you enjoy the hops!! I had a super day and hope you did too! 🙂

  8. Great projects as usual. Love the box, especially the thought of a tea light inside.

I did not make cards yesterday but I had an awesome day crafting. Made a fantastic Halloween wreath, vinyl creations, and got my coffins made. Now 6 cards left and then I’m ready for Thanksgiving projects

    1. Thanks so much Linda! I will get the tea lights so they are a reality soon! LOL!
Sounds like a fantastic day indeed! My day today was just the best! Hope yours was equally as good! 🙂

    1. Thank you Kathy! That is definitely my favorite background above all! The second card is just a little different and that makes it fun I think! Thanks again! 🙂

  9. Hi there Justin! It’s taken me a while to soak in all your projects for today! They are all simply wonderful! You know I love Halloween and Fall so I am really enjoying all that you’ve done. That little box is the bomb! I hope you get your tea lights soon—how cute are they gonna be?? Ok, that ghost with the night sky—fabulous! And I think my favorite is the pumpkin with the pierced paper cut out! Love this!! I’m truly amazed by your talent! I love your instagram pic! Send some sunshine our way…dreary and chilly here, but any day is a good day to listen to Sam! I love that CD… I listen to him often while working in my stamp room! Enjoy the rest of your Sunday because you know what tomorrow is! Thanks for an awesome post today!

    1. Hello there Karen!
You are so sweet to me! Thank you very, very much! I really am glad to hear that you like the projects! I have so much fun making them and I think a big part of it because I will get to read you comments after they are posted! I’m happy that you got to see the Instagram pic! I was having such a wonderful time just sitting there in the park soaking up the sun and listening to Sam! If that album was a vinyl I really do think I would be on 6th copy by now, I listen to it constantly! I’m glad that you enjoy him too! I had such a fun day I don’t even care that tomorrow is Monday! 🙂

  10. Lots of adorable stuff using the same stamp set, wow! Love the shadowy watercolor ghost on the first card, the background paper on the second is adorable, but your wonderful tiny treat box is cutest of all!

  11. The shadowy ghost is a fabulous feature for the first card and I love what you have done with the second project – the layout is gorgeous. Cute little box too!
