Negative Tag Thank You

Hey there! I hope that you are enjoying your weekend! Mine is nice! This morning I went to Forest Hills with Heather and Brian to pick up a bookcase for Heather from her brother’s apartment. It’s a great apartment in an older building. Nice and roomy with a great kitchen and a fantastic bathroom! WeΒ stopped and dropped off the bookcase at Heather’s and then went to All American to get lunch. I ate with Brian, Heather had to go over to George’s. After we finished Brian dropped me off at my house and I spent a little time organizing the Stampin’ Galley and then crafted for a bit. A nice quiet evening, no complaints here! Today I will do my laundry! If I say that it might actually happen! LOL! Some of you asked to see the sequin storage that I picked up yesterday. I finished adding the sequins today so here it is all full and organized!

Sequin Organization

The card that I have to share with you today is a different take on a tag. The base is Neenah Solar White 110lb Card Stock. I used the Simon Says Stamp On Edge Thank You Die across the top of a piece of Black 110lb and the Simon Says Stamp Large Tags Die to cut out the negative tag. To see just where I wanted to put my stamped images I traced around the inside of the tag with a pencil. The flowers and leaves are from the Simon Says Stamp Flowers on My Mind Photopolymer Stamp Set, I stamped the flowers in Simon Says Stamp Goldenlocks Ink using my MISTI and added the centers with Catkin Ink. They are cut out with the Simon Says Stamp 2 Flowers 2 Leaves Dies and arranged in the tag space so I knew where to stamp my leaves. The leaves are stamped in Simon Says Stamp Green Leaf Ink and then the flowers are adhered to the card base with E-Z-Runner. I erased the pencil lines and then adhered the black piece with Foam Tape. To the center of each of the flowers I added a pearl and then scattered some Pretty Pink Posh Summer Mix, Shamrock, Marigold and Sparkling Clear Sequins on the flowers and leaves to finish the card. I really like the negative tag and the sequins and pearls give it just a little bit of sparkle and shine! I hope that you like today’s card! Thank you for your visit and I wish you all a supreme Sunday! πŸ™‚

  1. Fantastic card, Justin! Great use of negative space and filling it up with flowers (and sequin centers!). Your card makes me think of the tropics, especially because of the flowers you used.

I have the same system for sequin storage as well and am also using it for some other smaller embellies. I was able to consolidate three clear assorted boxes of embellies by moving the smaller ones to this system and donating ones that I hadn’t even laid eyes on or even considered using in 2+ years. Felt good doing that!! Now I have two “tackle” boxes and one embroidery floss box that I can use somewhere else in the house or my husband can use in his “workshop.”

Wishing you a happy & sunny Sunday!

    1. Thank you Christy! Yes, the flowers do look a little tropical! I need some tropics right about now!
It really does fell great to get organized! I like it because I can see them all at once now!I’m sure that hubby will like the bonus storage too!
Happy Sunday to you too and I hope it’s sunny of you too! πŸ™‚

  2. Love your card. It gave me some great ideas for using my banner dies. Sometimes all it takes is for some artsy person to show us the way. TFS By the way, I really enjoy your cards & love your little stories each day. You make me tired though with all you do.

    1. Thank you Paula! I love when I can spark an idea for someone! I’m so glad to hear that you are enjoying my cards and little adventures! I have to keep moving! As you can see I like to stay busy! LOL! I hope that you have a wonderful day! πŸ™‚

  3. Love that negative tag idea with the cheerful flowers inside! I’m also loving that sequin storage case, not to mention your your sequin collection itself! I might have to get one myself. Thanks for sharing!

    1. Thank you Carol! I am a little obsessed with sequins and the case makes it really easy to see all of them! Have a great day! πŸ™‚

  4. Hi Justin ~ I have followed your blog daily for a long time and REALLY ENJOY your cards and conversation πŸ™‚ Your organizer for sequins is PERFECT..love it <3 I'm from the Toledo, Ohio area and am having so much fun "hanging out with you in New York City." I've never been there. Your life is fascinating to me!! Loved following your adventures to England and other places. A super fabulous Sunday to you, Justin πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Sharon!
Thank you so much!! I’m so happy to have you along and am glad that you enjoy the cards and my little snippets of my daily life! The sequin holder is great! It’s great to be able to share some of my life with you you and I love that you said hanging out, that’s just what I want it to feel like! NY is a great place and if you ever come to visit you have to let me know! I can’t wait to go back to London! Again, thank you so much and I hope that you have an amazing week! πŸ™‚

  5. Good Morning Justin:

It’s always so nice to start the day with you! It’s always great to see a new technique and I am inspired to try the negative image type care. Your’s is just gorgeous and I love the spring flowers topped with pearls and, of course, the sequins. I should dig around my sewing stuff and see if I kept any of the sequins from the gazillion dance costumes I had to add them to when working on my daughter’s recital outfits. If I ever find them I’m mailing them off to you. I love them on the cards but frankly, over the course of the years, I’ve had about all the sequins scattered over the carpeting that I can take. LOL The card is gorgeous and sure to please the lucky recipient.

Beautiful blue sky here today with bright white puffy clouds. By mid week it’s supposed to be close to 60 so we will take a day and drive out to the shore. It’s not that far but if we follow the shoreline up the coast there is always something to see and do. You have yourself a lovely laundry day – I’ll be watching the race from Las Vegas this afternoon. Homemade Italian soup for supper so it’s no big deal. Love and Hugs, XXOO πŸ™‚

    1. Hello Grace!
I love to be able to start my day with a comment from you! I’m so happy that you like the card! You definitely should get some of your sequins out, they add a nice little amount of sparkle to a card! LOL! I’ll take some sequins!
It was a nice day here too! Sunny but a little chilly, we are supposed to warm up this week, can’t wait for that! That sounds like a very nice ride! I did my laundry! YAY! I have been bad and not doing it every week, then there is way too much! LOL! Hope that you enjoyed your race and your supper, sounds delicious! Love and hugs to you! XOXO πŸ™‚

  6. As has been mentioned earlier, I have admired your sequin collection for sometime and now love this storage case. I couldn’t tell from the picture, but you must have each section labeled to keep track of what you are using. I also love the detail you give us on each card. Today’s card is really nice. I love the flowers behind the negative black banner and, of course the sequins and pearls. Did you use the Glad Press N Seal trick you mentioned earlier to keep the flowers in place while you added the adhesive to them? I love that tip. Our weather in Delaware is also nice today and is supposed to get nicer as the week goes on. Yay!! Have a great day!

    1. Thank you HJ! Yes, they are labeled on the back! The card was fun and a different take on a tag, we need to mix it up! I did use the Press ‘n Seal! It works great! We are both in for some nice weather finally! I hope that you enjoy your day! πŸ™‚

  7. Yep, that is the caase I bought off of Amazon, you did get a better deal, LoL I’m ashamed to say, mine is almost full. I finally finished my table decorations for Easter, took forever but they are so flippin cute, and I was good, my kids got all the extra Reeses peanut Butter cups! I still need to make some baskets with the new Lawn fawn die but I really need to get my card done for my DT posting. I’ve had 4 days off of work and still running behind.

This card is clever, I love the negative tag, and black off sets this so well. Take care. I’ll be enjoyng our 50-60 degree weather thi week. Sending some your way

    1. It’s a great case Linda! I saw it on Amazon but when I found it AC Moore for that price I had to get it! No shame in having an almost full sequin holder! LOL! Mine is almost full too! I have had more than four days off and I’m always behind! It’s the way it goes!
Glad that you like the card! I hope that you have a great week and thanks for sending the nice weather my way! πŸ™‚

  8. Wow Justin, no wonder most of your cards contain sequins – you have a few in stock!! Gorgeous thank you card, something different πŸ™‚ Good luck with your laundry, you can always buy more clothes if you start to run low, Lol! Happy Monday my friend XOXO

    1. LOL! Yes, just a few sequins Kelly! Thank you! I like the negative tag filled with the flowers! It’s a little different! I got my laundry finished! Hope that you had a great Monday! XOXO πŸ™‚
